ABOUT
ANTARA

I established Antara Photo Art in 2014 as an outgrowth and tribute to one of God’s greatest gifts to mankind…… a gift that I cherish perhaps more than all others.   A gift that not only brings function to our lives, but when captured into our being brings purpose, peace and serenity.  It's not just the gift of sight, but our ability to visualize and bring meaning to those special moments in our lives that help define who we are.   Whether it’s a wedding, anniversary or other celebratory event we’ll capture the visuals that will allow you to re-live the important moments for a life time.

I further believe that we are all gifted with a strength of purpose that is exposed in our visual presentation to others.   It spills out of us in the form of a wrinkle, a smile, expression or perhaps a unique squint in the eye.  A visual so powerful that it can offer a peak into our very being…into our soul.

At Antara Photo Art our portrait photography will capture God’s unique art peace that is you and expose the strength and power that lies within.  When we say, “Let Us Expose The Power Of Your Image”, that is exactly what we attempt to do.

____________________________________________________________________
I chose the name Antara because of the significance of the North African 6th century character whom brought fame to it.   Antara was born from the union of Shaddad, a well respected member of the Arabian tribe of Banu Abs and Zabibah, an Ethiopian woman whom Shaddad had enslaved after a tribal war.  Though it was clear that Shaddad was his father, Antara was known as one of the Arab Crows because of his jet black complexion and was not afforded the recognition of a free man.  He gained attention and respect for himself by his remarkable personal qualities and courage in battle, excelling as an accomplished poet and a mighty warrior.

Antara’s poetry is well preserved and often talks of chivalrous values, courage and heroism in battle, as well as his love for Abla, a free woman he fell in love with and sought to marry despite his status as a slave.  He was granted his freedom by his father as a condition for him to defend his fathers tribe from invasion.  His poetry was immortalized when one of his poems was included in the Hanged Poems.  The Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov wrote his Symphony No. 2 based on the legend of Antar.  One of the seven clans (tribes) of Bethehem is called the Anatreh, named after Antara, and in past centuries acted as guardians of the church of the nativity.

Antara successfully combined the strength and valor of a great warrior with the love, passion and gentleness of a great poet.  These are life qualities that we all possess but may have difficulty expressing.  These are the life qualities that Antara attempts to expose in your portrait.
